Dr Jonathan Banks

Respiratory, Sleep & General Medicine Physician

Dr Jon Banks is a Specialist in Respiratory, Sleep and General Medicine. His respiratory areas of interest include asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, chronic cough and breathlessness, respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders, pleural diseases and pulmonary vascular disease.

Jon completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy and post-graduate Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at University of Queensland. He obtained Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2022 in Respiratory Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Adult Acute and General Medicine. Jon has completed an additional Clinical Diploma in Palliative Care Medicine.

His procedural expertise includes intercostal catheter and indwelling pleural catheter insertion, non-invasive ventilation, and flexible bronchoscopy. Jon performs convex and radial EBUS for diagnosis of lung cancer in addition to cryotherapy, APC, electrocautery and standard diagnostic bronchoscopy procedures.

Jon holds appointments as Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Gold Coast University Hospital and Senior Lecturer at Griffith University. He is a member of Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, European Respiratory Society and Australasian Sleep Association, and is a Justice of the Peace.

Dr Daniel Bird

Dr Daniel Bird is a dedicated Respiratory and Sleep Physician with deep roots in the Gold Coast community, having lived and been raised in the area. His healthcare career began in 2004 as a Nurse at Pindara Private Hospital, before completing his medical degree at the University of Wollongong in 2016. He went on to complete advanced Respiratory training at Gold Coast University Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at The Prince Charles Hospital.

Dr Bird has a special interest in lung malignancy and advanced diagnostic procedures, including bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). He provides comprehensive respiratory care across Gold Coast University Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital, and Pimpama, offering expertise in asthma, interstitial lung disease, COPD, and sleep disorders.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Bird is passionate about medical education. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Medical Professional Education and holds a position of Lecturer at Griffith University, contributing to the training and mentorship of future healthcare professionals. Laura Gordon

Dr Laura Gordon

Respiratory & Sleep Physician

Dr Laura Gordon is a Respiratory and Sleep specialist. She graduated from the Peninsula Medical School in the United Kingdom in 2010. Following this Dr Gordon practiced medicine in both the UK and Australia before returning to England to complete her specialty training in Respiratory and General Medicine in the Cambridge region including Addenbrooke’s and Royal Papworth Hospitals. She completed subspecialty placements in the Thoracic Oncology and Pulmonary Vascular Disease units at Royal Papworth Hospital.  Dr Gordon returned to Australia in 2023 and has since finished a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr Gordon is committed to providing good quality respiratory care. She has an interest in sleep medicine, pleural diseases, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. Dr Gordon is proficient in bronchoscopy including convex endobronchial ultrasound.

Dr Jonathon Parker

Respiratory & Sleep Physician

Dr Jonathon Parker is a dual trained Respiratory (Thoracic) and Sleep Specialist practicing on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

Jonathon completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Queensland, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. He began working as a doctor in 2014 and undertook initial internal medicine training at Gold Coast University Hospital, followed by advanced specialty training in Respiratory & Sleep Medicine at The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH) and Cairns Hospital. This was followed by an additional Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at RBWH.

Jonathon holds appointments as a Staff Specialist in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at RBWH and Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. He is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the European Respiratory Society, and the Australasian Sleep Association.

Jonathon consults privately at Pimpama Health Precinct, Gold Coast Private Hospital, and Pindara Private Hospital. He is dual-trained and has expertise across a broad range of respiratory and sleep conditions. In terms of respiratory conditions, he has a particular interest in managing patients with asthma, smoking-related lung diseases, chronic cough, shortness of breath, lung cancer, fibrosis, sarcoidosis, and pulmonary hypertension. He is proficient in thoracic procedures, including advanced bronchoscopy and both linear and convex EBUS.

In terms of sleep medicine, Jonathon has a particular interest in CPAP therapy and weight loss as treatments for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), excessive daytime tiredness, restless legs syndrome, nacrolepsy, bruxism and insomnia.

Jonathon is committed to ongoing education and research. He has presented at national and international conferences on a broad range of respiratory and sleep topics. He stays up-to-date with the latest practices and medical technologies

Kirryn Williams

Dr Kirryn Williams

Respiratory, Sleep & General Medicine Physician

Dr Kirryn Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from James Cook University in 2007. She is a qualified General Physician and Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician. She completed her respiratory training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital. She then completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Her medical training has been undertaken in both tertiary centres and regional centres including the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Cape York Peninsula. Her goal is to deliver quality health care to regional Australians.

Dr Williams is trained and qualified to analyse, interpret and report sleep studies and complex lung function tests. She has an interest in conditions affecting sleep such as sleep apnoea, respiratory muscle weakness (eg motor neuron disease) and other sleep conditions such as hypersomnolence syndromes and dream disorders.

Dr Williams other medical interests include all respiratory conditions including asthma, smoking-related lung diseases, pulmonary vascular disorders, lung cancer and diagnostic bronchoscopy. She also has an interest managing complex medical patients perioperatively, especially bariatric patients.
